Canine Units

In addition to meeting ground search standards, our canine handlers put in a great deal of efforts in order to ensure a certain level of quality of service.  Training an operational canine unit is a long-term commitment that requires availability, discipline and rigor.

Our standards are particularly demanding.  The teams are primarily trained for searches in forest areas, but some of them accept to extend their expertise to the search of victims of drowning, to the search of human remains, to the search in avalanches and to the search in rubbles.

In order to inform people who may be interested in forming a search and rescue canine unit, the AQBRS recently published an information kit to help you better understand the sheer size of our canine handlers commitment.
